A Protestant Woman Went Viral After Explaining Why She Started Praying the Rosary
Instagram creator Sarah Giles posted a video explaining her journey with the rosary as a Protestant. Since then, she has been learning more about the Catholic Church and its teachings.
In her video, Giles addresses common claims that the rosary is “demonic, satanic, or a form of idolatry,” and firmly rejects them.
“None of those are true, and quite frankly, we sound a little bit uneducated when we say those things,” Giles says. “I know this because that’s how I sounded when I first started learning about the rosary.”
She encourages viewers to approach the topic with humility, asking them to open their “hearts and minds” and to “do your research.”
Giles then explains that the rosary is “a very powerful tool” because it is rooted in Scripture and focused on meditation.
“This tool is used to meditate on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. It’s used to meditate on specific mysteries — whether the Sorrowful Mysteries or the Glorious Mysteries — to place yourself at the scene, or to look through the eyes of the people who were there and meditate on that,” she explains.
She shares that praying the rosary has transformed her prayer life, brought her closer to God, and feels like a spiritual weapon.
“Even when I wore this for two days after I started praying the rosary, I felt like I had a weapon with me. Not because of what this is, but because of what God is doing through it.”
Giles ends by inviting others to look deeper before judging the rosary.
“This is so powerful, and I would encourage you: if you haven’t researched for yourself what Catholics or Orthodox actually believe about the rosary, look into it before you form a prejudice,” she says.
“And even just try it with an open heart. See what the Lord has to tell you about it.”
Let us pray that more Catholics and non-Catholics discover the rosary and pray it daily.
